Heavenly Horses

“Heavenly Horses” (Cheonmado) is an ancient Korean artwork depicting a divine horse soaring through the sky. 

Among them, the Cheonmado excavated from the Cheonmachong tomb in Gyeongju is regarded as one of the masterpieces of the Silla period — a symbol of communion between heaven and humankind. 

The white horses in my work embody the same spirit. 

Running across vast plains and rising into the sky, they represent freedom, hope, and the pursuit of dreams. Their pure white form expresses not only outer beauty but also The white horse stands as a noble symbol of human aspiration. Its flight reminds us of new beginnings and endless possibility. 

​Within each of us lies a desire to unfurl our wings — and like the heavenly horses, the act of moving toward our dreams is itself a most beautiful ascent.

 

Cheonmado (Chevaux Célestes)

« Cheonmado » – ou « les chevaux célestes » – est une œuvre d’art ancienne coréenne représentant un cheval divin s’élevant vers le ciel. 

Parmi ces représentations, celle découverte dans la tombe royale de Cheonmachong à Gyeongju est considérée comme un chef-d’œuvre de la période Silla, symbole du lien entre le ciel et les êtres humains. 

Les chevaux blancs de mes œuvres portent le même esprit. 

Ils galopent à travers de vastes plaines et s’élèvent librement dans le ciel, incarnant la liberté, l’espérance et la poursuite des rêves. 

Leur blancheur pure exprime non seulement la beauté extérieure, mais aussi la force intérieure et la sincérité de l’âme. 

Le cheval blanc est un symbole noble du rêve humain. 

Son envol évoque un nouveau départ et l’infinité des possibles. 

Au fond de chacun de nous existe ce désir d’ouvrir nos ailes — 

et, comme ces chevaux célestes, avancer vers nos rêves est déjà un envol d’une beauté rare.

 

천마도

‘천마도(天馬圖)’는 하늘을 나는 신성한 말을 그린 고대 한국의 예술 작품이다. 

특히 경주의 천마총에서 출토된 천마도는 신라 시대의 대표적인 걸작으로, 하늘과 인간의 교감을 상징한다. 

나의 작품 속 말 또한 순백의 존재들이다. 

드넓은 대지를 달리고, 하늘로 비상하는 흰 말들의 모습은 꿈을 향한 자유와 희망을 상징한다. 

그 순백의 형태는 단순한 외형을 넘어, 내면의 순수함과 강인한 의지를 담고 있다. 

하얀 말은 인간이 품은 고귀한 꿈의 상징이며, 

그 비상하는 모습은 새로운 시작과 가능성을 일깨운다. 

결국 우리 모두의 마음속에는 하늘을 향해 날고자 하는 꿈이 있다. 

그 꿈을 향해 나아가는 여정 자체가 이미 가장 아름다운 비상이다.
