영원한 그녀들의 초상
고전 명화와 현대적인 그림에서 여성의 모습은 각각 시대 적 배경에 따라 다르게 표현되었지만, 그 속에서 변하지 않 는 동질성은 여성의 내면의 아름다움이며, 때로는 개성과 자 기표현, 사회적 역할과 영향력, 자연스러움과 진정성 등이 내재되어 있다. 르네상스 시대부터 근대에 이르기까지 고전 명화에서 각 시대별로 여성들이 어떻게 표현되었는지는 거장의 작품 속에서 찾아 이를 관통해 보기로 했다.
먼저 여인들의 모습들을 꼴라주 하고 일부를 픽셀을 뜯어내 어 과거 속 어딘가 존재한 그러나 지금을 찾을 수 없는 흔 적을 표현하였다. 그리고 다양한 시대의 작가들이 그린 여 성들은 각기 다른 배경과 스타일을 가지고 있지만, 인물의 심리적 깊이, 일상의 아름다움, 여성의 매력과 역할을 강조 하는 공통점을 통해 동질성을 느낄 수 있었다. 이러한 동질 성을 실을 꿰어 엮으면서 각기 다른 시대의 여성성이 하나로 통하는 힘을 느낄 수 있지 않을까 하는 생각 한다.
Portraits of Time Eternal Women
Throughout art history, women have been portrayed differently across classical and modern paintings, reflecting the cultural contexts of their time. Yet, a constant thread that remains unaltered is the inner beauty of women. This enduring quality embodies individuality, self-expression, social roles and influence, natural grace, and authenticity. From the Renaissance to modernity, I sought to explore how women were depicted through the works of great masters, aiming to trace the unifying essence across periods.
In this piece, I arranged images of women into a collage and pixelated portions to evoke traces of the past fragments that once existed but are now beyond our grasp. Although these depictions span various backgrounds and styles, the psychological depth, everyday beauty, charm, and roles they emphasize reflect a shared essence. Through this commonality, I wondered: Could we discover a thread of unity that connects the feminine spirit across different eras? By stitching together these expressions of womanhood, I aimed to explore the unifying strength that flows through time, linking the essence of women from past to present.

‘정영미’는 2010년 서울시 사진공모전에서 은상을 시작으로 사진작업을 시작했다. 서예 문인화 대전에서 수상경력이 있을 만큼 미술재료를 다루는 것이 자연스러워 근래에는 물성과 대입하는 작업을 주로 했다. 2023년 예술의 전당(현대미술사진) 에서 도자기 파편과 결합한 사진으로 주목을 받았으며 이에 미국 IPA(International photography awards), 영국 FAPA(Fine art photography awards),에 입선되었다. 2024년도에는 프랑스 아를 사진축제에 참가하였다.
